A KnowledgeIQ Knowledge Management System [KMS] is equipped with a range of tools designed to manage enterprise content effectively and ensure information remains up to date and valuable to the business. In this first instalment of our short series on content management, we explore automated version control.
Version control provides enterprises with a history log for content, tracks changes made to content over time, and ensures every edit, addition, or deletion is recorded. Automated version control goes one step further and tracks changes automatically, without the need for manual intervention.
KnowledgeIQ incorporates automated version control as a core feature, guaranteeing consistent and accurate content.
Whenever a piece of content is updated in KnowledgeIQ, and a new version is created and published, it automatically becomes the only version visible to frontline staff. KnowledgeIQ provides current details in a content footer, as seen below, that shows when (1) the most recent version was published, (2) when it was originally created, and (3) the version number.

All previous versions are also stored. They can be viewed by administrators and rolled back to a previous approved version if necessary. This protects your organisation if an audit on past processes is conducted and ensures that only the most up-to-date and relevant information is displayed when frontline staff conduct a search.
Automated version control is essential for effective content management in a KMS. It tracks all changes, supports collaboration, maintains content integrity, and allows easy restoration of previous versions to prevent data loss or errors.
